Install SEB for mac OS (Article)

Alert
Before you begin this process, you must be an Administrator on the computer you are using to install SEB on.
Please follow all steps in this article to properly install and then launch Safe Exam Browser.
If you don't complete all steps you will be unable to proceed.

Step 1: Enter into your test in your normal browser and click on "Launch Safe Exam Browser (SEB)".

You will always launch SEB from your normal browser, weather this be Safari, Firefox, or Chrome.
Alert
Before launching SEB make sure that you have your LMS login credentials memorized as you will need to manually log back into your schools website inside SEB.

Step 2: Click "download SEB for macOS". Do not close this window.

Warning
If you are not on macOS Big Sur Version 11.1 or higher your system needs to be updated before installation.

Step 3: After download is complete double click the file to install.

Step 4: Drag the Safe Exam Browser icon into the Applications Folder.

You will hear a sound when this is completed.
Warning
SEB must be placed into the application folder.
You will receive an error if this is not completed.
You will always launch SEB from your course in your normal browser and never from the icon.
Move SEB to Applications


Step 5: Return to the browser window you were told to leave open.

Click the Button again to launch SEB.
Try launching SEB again.




















Step 6. You must then allow permission for SEB to access Location Services, and Full Disk Access.

Alert
Granting Full Disk Access is an administrative setting on macOS. Users who do not have administrator privileges on their Mac will be unable to complete this step and may need assistance from their IT department or device administrator before using SEB.

1. Location Services

To enable:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & SecurityLocation Services.
  3. Enable Location Services.
  4. Grant location access to Safe Exam Browser.

2. Full Disk Access

To enable:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & SecurityFull Disk Access.
  3. Add and enable Safe Exam Browser.

Step 7: Return to your normal browser one final time and click the button "Try launching safe exam browser".

Allow SEB to run and then sign into your LMS to continue to your test.
