Pre-Exam Checklist for BioSight-ID and BioSightPlus-ID

Pre-Exam Checklist for BioSight-ID and BioSightPlus-ID

Idea
To simplify testing technical requirements you can utilize the BSI Troubleshooting app.
1. Review System Requirements
Verify that your computer meets the recommended hardware and software requirements for BioSight-ID or BioSightPlus-ID.

If you are not sure which system will be used, look at the name of the exam itself and the product should be listed.

2. Review Video Card Requirements
Our application performs a basic graphics hardware check during startup. To help ensure the best experience, confirm that your device meets the required graphics specifications and that your video card drivers are current, as outdated drivers may affect performance and responsiveness.

3. Ensure Proper Lighting
Proper lighting is required for successful identity verification and exam monitoring.

Before your exam:

  • Turn on room lights.
  • Make sure your face and environment is clearly illuminated.
  • Position lighting in front of you, not behind you. Do not sit with your back to a window during day.
  • Check your camera view before starting.

Important: Light coming only from your monitor, laptop screen, or decorative LED/rope lighting is not sufficient. Use normal room lighting such as overhead lights or lamps.

4. Remove Earbuds, Headphones, and Headsets
Remove any earbuds, headphones, or headsets unless specifically permitted by your instructor or organization.

During the exam, students may not listen to:

  • Music
  • TV
  • Audio recordings
  • Podcasts
  • Videos
  • AI assistants or other external resources

5. Connect Your Laptop to Power
If you are using a laptop, plug it into a power source before beginning your exam.

This helps prevent:

  • Battery depletion
  • Unexpected shutdowns
  • Power-saving modes that may interfere with recording

6. Verify Your Internet Connection
Ensure you have a stable internet connection before starting your exam.
  • A hard-wired Ethernet connection is strongly recommended whenever possible.
  • If using Wi‑Fi, verify that your connection is both strong and reliable before starting the exam. You are responsible for ensuring your internet connection remains active for the duration of the exam. Even high-speed Wi‑Fi connections can experience unexpected interruptions or brief disconnects.
Please see the BSI Troubleshooting App for instructions on how to test your internet connection.

7. Control Your Testing Environment
You should be in position and ready to take your exam before you launch your exam. Choose a testing location that is clean, organized, and free from unnecessary items that could be interpreted as exam resources. A simple testing environment helps support a smooth monitoring experience.
  • You must be seated at a desk or table. Not in bed, or laying down.
  • You must not allow any additional humans to enter the room.

  • Remove resources from the testing area:
    1. Books, notebooks, notes, or scratch paper unless permitted by your instructor
    2. Posters, whiteboards, or displays containing text
    8. Test Your Camera Position & Microphone Before the Exam
Before starting your exam, verify your camera placement and seating position, and insure your microphone is well functioning.

WarningImportant: Close any camera applications before launching your exam. The browser requires direct access to your camera.

    Make sure:

    • You are comfortably seated
    • Your face is centered in the camera frame
    • You can remain visible throughout the exam
    • Do not lean forward as that removes your face from view.

When the exam starts, you will briefly see a camera preview to confirm your position.

Afterward, the preview will be replaced by an eye icon:

    • Green Eye Icon: BioSight-ID/BioSightPlus-ID can see you.
    • Red Eye Icon: BioSight-ID/BioSightPlus-ID cannot see you.

If the icon turns red, adjust your position, lighting, or camera angle until it returns to green.

    9. Do Not Close the Monitoring Session Until Your Exam Is Submitted
Once your exam begins, do not close the BioSight-ID/BioSightPlus-ID monitoring window, browser tab, screen-sharing session, or any associated monitoring tools until your exam has been fully submitted.

    Important:

    • Wait until your exam submission is complete.
    • Follow any instructions provided by your testing platform.
    • Do not assume monitoring has ended simply because you have finished answering questions.

    Alert
The monitoring tools should automatically close after your exam has been successfully submitted. If you have returned to your course and the monitoring tools are still active, you may then close them. Do not close any monitoring windows, browser tabs, or screen-sharing sessions until you are certain your exam has been submitted.

    10. Ensure Uninterupted Time
